Our candles have been designed to give you hours of fragrance that is clean-burning and strong smelling. Please read below to find out some of the ways you can enjoy a purer scent experience safely and effectively.

THE FIRST BURN

Take a moment and enjoy the ritual of lighting and taking care of your candle. The first burn is the most important. This will set the stage for how your candle will perform throughout its life. Your first light should last around 4 hours as this will ensure that the pool of melted wax reaches the edges of your amber jar in order to avoid tunnelling. Following these steps will ensure that your candle will go onto burn beautifully.

TRIM THE WICK

Prior to re-lighting your candle, always trim your wick about 5mm to ensure a safe and clean burn. Wick trimming tools can be used, or you can simply pinch it away with your fingers. Keep the wax pool free of wick trimmings, matches and debris at all times. You should aim to burn your candle in a well-ventilated room where drafts can be avoided. This will help prevent rapid or uneven burning. You should not burn your candle for longer than four hours as this can cause the jar to overheat.

GENERAL SAFETY

Never leave a candle burning unattended. Always keep it on a heat resistant surface that is out of reach of children, pets and anything flammable. Keep your candle on an even surface to avoid spilling molten wax on yourself and surfaces. Never touch or move your candle while it is burning or while the wax is liquified. Do not burn your candle all the way down, we recommend leaving 5mm of wax in the container. Never use a candle as a night light or while you may fall asleep.Use a candle snuffer to extinguish your candle. Always remember to keep the lid on your candle jar when not in use.

CONSIDERATIONS

Please be mindful that thekindredfolk candles are made from a natural plant wax. We use a combination of specially blended Rapeseed and Coconut wax. Due to it being natural, you might find that the wax may have some cosmetic imperfections in between burns but this is part of the charm when using natural wax. It in no way impacts the performance or the safety of the candle. We strongly believe that its sustainability and green credentials positively outweigh these characteristics. After all, it’s the beauty that is natural imperfection.
